We are delighted to announce our line-up for this the sixth edition of Spilt Milk – from dreamy pop to noise rock and even our family-friendly ‘Junior Jam’ all musical tastes are covered
Set to take place from Thursday, 14 November to Sunday, 17 November this year’s edition promises an eclectic mix of 20 performers, bands, and DJs, spread across multiple venues in Sligo town, including Blend, Furey’s Pub, The Garavogue, Abbeyville Centre (Irish Wheelchair Association), Lillies, The Penthouse, and the iconic Yeats Building.
Returning to a multi-venue format, Spilt Milk 2024 will once again showcase an exciting blend of local and international talent, including well-known acts and emerging artists across a variety of genres. We take pride on being a platform for performers and artists operating in the left-field and alternative fringes. Events this year encompass live music performances, installations, screenings and workshop, we see Spilt Milk as being open, inclusive, accessible and fun. We can’t wait to see you!
Line-up Highlights:
- 7of9 (Dublin) at Garavogue on Friday 15 November:
Osaro and Lizzie’s 7of9 is the infusion of industrial pop with sulphuric-gore vocals seeping into your wanting earlobes. Lizzie Fitzpatrick (aka coolgirl) has been making darkwave over the past few years under her own stage name and Osaro is a respected spoken word artist in the Dublin Art scene. The pair joined up to write hypnotic and abrasive art pop that is capturing the hearts of Irish audiences. - THE NONE (UK) at Garavogue on Saturday 16 November:
A must-see at this year’s festival, THE NONE is a noise rock collective. The group is composed of seasoned musicians, including bassist Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party, Young Legionnaire), vocalist Kaila Whyte (Blue Ruth, Youth Man), guitarist Jim Beck (Cassels), and drummer Chris Francombe (Frauds). Known for their relentless energy and uncompromising sound, THE NONE blends noise rock with strong melodies. - Brigid Mae Power (Galway) at Garavogue on Saturday 16 November:
Recognised as a purveyor of dreamier pop with folky leanings, Brigid Mae Power brings a unique marriage of traditional stylings and very modern melodies; a breath-taking soundtrack which underpins her gorgeous vocal. - TheroMancers (Sligo/Leitrim) at Lillies on Saturday 16 November: TheroMancers is a new project from Natalia Beylis (Woven Skull) and Ruth Clinton (Landless, Poor Creature exploring the sonic possibilities of the theremin.
- R.Kitt at Penthouse on Saturday 16 November:
R.Kitt has long been at the forefront of Ireland’s dance music scene, holding down a DDR residency, running parties and DJing with DIP, and being one of the leading voices of the GiveUsTheNight campaign. R.Kitt’s music and DJ sets are influenced by the futuristic sounds of Detroit Techno pioneers as well as the euphoric melodies of mid-90s trance and tech tracks that shaped the sound of Dublin. This impressive sound has led him to stand-out performances in iconic settings such as Boiler Room, Printworks & HÖR. - RÓIS (Fermanagh) at Yeats Building on Sunday 17 November:
RÓIS is a composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic artist from Fermanagh, whose songs breathe new life into a forgotten Ireland. Blending elements of folk, sean-nós, electronics, and jazz harmony, RÓIS’ genre-bending sound transports listeners to a different realm.
Other acts in the line-up include Aoibh (Sligo), Filmore! (Dublin), Biological Speculation (Dublin), Diarmuid MacDiarmada (Sligo), Lolz (Galway), Maicín (Cork), Star of the Sea (Sligo), Surge (Dublin), Amanda Ferry & Declan Synnott (Cork), Tyrannical Kitty (Dublin/Germany).
The festival will also feature transdisciplinary duo Spooky Beore (Dublin) at Yeats Building on opening night and a video installation by composer Cal Folger Day (US), with a workshop programme running throughout the weekend.
The Junior Jam event returns for its third year, providing a fun and safe space for children and families to explore experimental music. The event on Sunday 17 November, featuring a performance by Sligo based Diarmuid MacDiarmada, will be held at the Abbeyville Centre (Irish Wheelchair Association).
