For International Women’s Day 2021, we bring you a special mixtape celebrating our favourite female, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming artists. You can listen to the mix below and you’ll also find it on YouTube and Spotify.
With contributions from each member of the SMF crew, the mixtape features a strong core of Irish voices including Aoife Nessa Frances, Denise Chaila, Nina Hynes, Patricia Lalor, Katie Gerardine O’Neill and Brigid Mae Power. Opening with a playful off-kilter pop ditty from Kate NV, the musical pendulum swings between post-punk, abstract electronica, folk before arriving back with the surreal pop tones of shiwashiwa. Over a runtime of 90 minutes, dip in and out of this mixtape as you feel, it’s here not just for today.
