Spooky Beore

After-party with DJ Schlucht

MORE INFO

Put away your charts and money scales and Join the Hag of Winter, The Cailleach and her Druid sky-god consort Mogh Roith for a mind bending session of the national card game of 25s. The stakes are higher than ever; the fate of the human race and all living things lies in your hands! As always, there will be some acts of communal magic – there will be ritual boulder throwing and an anachronistic Folk-play with a timely moral message.

Spooky Beore are a pair of art hags whose performance work involves the creation of social spaces through performance, play, radio making and acts of ritual magic.  Spooky Beore is a collaborative project of artist, creative producer and performer Niamh Beirne and artist, writer and filmmaker Helen Flanagan formed in 2015. Their work seeks to close gaps between performer and audience by emphasizing the cathartic power of playful exchange. The dark quarter of the year is upon us, and woe be to any human still caught in the follies of toil and labour!

Berlin-based DJ SchluchT has interned at DIY Church for over 10 years. Known for his quirky social behavior, ghost coding, and tape looping, his work is described as “classic intuitive wrongfootedness.” Outside DJing, he runs a virtual yacht club, enjoys underwater painting, and experiments with obsolete copy machines, printing the internet on them.

70f9 / Surge / star of the sea

MORE INFO

AGES 16+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)

7of9 duo of Osaro and Lizzie is the infusion of industrial pop with sulphuric-gore vocals seeping into your wanting earlobes. Osaro and Lizzie decided to get together for an exclusive show in 2022. Since that show the love for 7of9 has grown and it extended it’s lifespan from a ‘one show’ performance to a fully fledged performance duo. Lizzie Fitzpatrick (aka coolgirl) has been making darkwave over the past few years under her own stage name and Osaro is a respected spoken word artist in the Dublin Art scene. The pair joined up to write hypnotic and abrasive art pop that is capturing the hearts of Irish audiences.

Surge are a 4 piece queer hardcore band playing noisy, distorted, political punk since 2016. They have toured extensively through Ireland and Europe, and are known for fiery high-energy live performances.

Star Of The Sea began as a collaboration between three music producers, Diarmuid MacDiarmada, The Clumsy Giantess (Tara Baoth Mooney), and Warmer Climes (Taf Hassam). Scattered between the Sligo/Leitrim mountains the trio perform longform immersive works, utilising a range of instruments from harps and kalimbas, to tape-loops, and synthesisers.

Yvonne Ryan (aka Aoibh) is an emerging experimental musician based in Sligo, Ireland.

Theresa and Katie met in London for the first time in March 2022, the day before their first gig as Tyrannical Kitty. In the weeks before, after being introduced digitally by Cess of Greenness Music, they had started an experimental synth project based on a mutual love of performance and electronics. Through video calls and demos sent back and forth, a set was created which we then performed at Iklectik Art Lab at a Colliding Lines events in London. Last year they brought the project to Dublin, and now they play again at Sligo’s beloved Spilt Milk! Strap in for a trip to the moon with two psychic synth pop stars. Dancing, spandex, and glitter encouraged!

BRIGID MAE POWER / HOTGIRL / MAICÍN / THE NONE

MORE INFO

AGES 16+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)

Recognised as a purveyor of dreamier pop with folky leanings, Brigid Mae Power is set to release a new album this coming winter. Brigid Mae Power brings a unique marriage of traditional stylings and very modern melodies; a breath-taking soundtrack which underpins her gorgeous vocal.

Dublin based band Hotgirl began as the bedroom project of singer/songwriter Ashley Abbedeen, when she threw a lofi, trip-hop style demo of Hotgirl’s first single ‘Jam’ on Soundcloud. Wanting to put a band together, she posted an Instagram call-out which caught the attention of guitarist Sophie Boxwell, who eventually auditioned successfully for the band. Drummer Nick Stanley and bassist Jake Hurley later entered the mix after stumbling across Jam on Soundcloud. The music evolved from its humble lofi, DIY style origins into a full soundscape of noisy, melodic dissonance that has come to define the band’s sound.

Hailing from the rebel city of Cork, Ireland, Maicín is challenging the status quo in the music scene with a sound that marries the grit of The Stranglers, the indie swagger of Pavement, and the pop sensibilities of Declan McKenna. The band delivers a visceral yet tender live show evocative of golden-era CBGBs. The eclectic mix of witty original songs takes the audience on a thought-provoking journey through time (from 80s London to the present day) and emotion (from laughter, wry smiles to even the suspicion of a tear or two).

THE NONE is a new band of lifelong musicians. Comprising bassist Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party, Young Legionnaire), vocalist Kaila Whyte (Blue Ruth, Youth Man), guitarist Jim Beck (Cassels) and drummer Chris Francombe (Frauds), they make an uncompromising vision of noise rock with melody at its heart. The band formed at the start of 2023 and bonded over hours in the rehearsal room – making noise, discussing shared obsessions, and, most importantly, playing together. The anonymity of their name reflects a creative approach which favours egoless experimentation and open collaboration. This ethos, the combined decades of music making, and the unique musical identities of all four members can be clearly heard in the art they create.

Filmore!, R.Kitt

MORE INFO

AGES 18+

Filmore!, the daring and dynamic artist known for his genre-defying sound, is set to release his latest EP, “Idle Death Gamble”. This compelling project explores the harrowing, yet addictive relationship between artists and their craft – a relationship that is often as destructive as it is inspiring. Idle Death Gamble is the culmination of a year-long journey through the volatile world of music creation. Filmore! has never shied away from the raw and the real, and this EP is no exception. It’s a sonic exploration of the co-dependent, manipulative, and financially draining aspects of an artist’s life, captured with unflinching honesty. The EP reflects the reality of the artist’s life – one that’s fraught with the crushing taste of defeat and the exhilarating highs of success.

R.Kitt has long been at the forefront of Ireland’s dance music scene, holding down a DDR residency, running parties and DJing with DIP, and being one of the leading voices of the GiveUsTheNight campaign. R.Kitt’s music and DJ sets are influenced by the futuristic sounds of Detroit Techno pioneers as well as the euphoric melodies of mid-90s trance and tech tracks that shaped the sound of Dublin. This impressive sound has lead him to stand-out performance in iconic settings such as Boiler Room, Printworks & HÖR.
